Movie Therapy

There is a mixture of feelings in movies, from saddening to joyful; from terrifying to funny, but what is it about movies that catches the viewer’s attention?

I believe that the like for something is in each person’s interest. In order to like a film, a book, a novel or show, it must be something to relates to the viewer, some of this are the future dreams, wanting a happily ever after, or simply feeding the inner psycho conscious, if it didn't relate to the viewer it would be of no interest.

The desire to escape reality is one of the main reasons that people tune in to the television and tune out of the world. Producers, directors, and actors are glamorized by those who wished to be like them. People see actresses like Milla Jovovich through a screen, jumping out a window shooting zombies like in the movie Resident Evil and the crowd goes insane, thinking of how a human could ever be possible to do such things. Or better yet thinking what can be done to be like that, without thinking for that to be possible the movie needed special graphics.

The viewer’s sometimes see a guy like Sam Witwicky from Transformers that doesn't have any luck with popular crowds, or girls, he’s viewed as a nerd and loser, till suddenly his life changes and becomes an adventurous journey that is out of this world. Personally I sometimes wished I could escape into that fictional reality that only exists in my mind and be told that it exist and my hopes aren't false.

There is a movie for each viewer and there is a character that is a reflection of what someone is dealing with. Sometimes seeing how someone else handles similar problems makes us believe that we can to handle it, and that we too can have our happy ending, also offering hope to move forward, and always feeling like the hero at the end of each scene.

The Social Media Effect

My beliefs in social media are my own from personal experiences; each person develops their own based on what they learn, watch, hear, and experience themselves.

Although there are a few benefits, the outcomes of its effects are negative and arrogant, just as many of its users. There is bullying, or an undercover name for it would be “trolling”, the feeling of superiority, and constant drama between each other, it is just ridiculous what it has all turned to.

Bullying, aka trolling, has become a major issue, every time I see a page I like on Facebook and I chose to comment, there’s already been thousands of comments before it. If I look farther into the comments, I notice how there is major bullying going on: From a girl calling another girl ugly and worthless, to other youths disrespecting adults and adults acting like the youths.

What is trolling? Why is it considered bullying?

If a person chooses Google.com to define the definition of trolling, it would give you the following: “To make a deliberately offensive or provocative online posting with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.

So after that definition, there is no doubt that the intent behind the troll is the same intent the bully has. The difference to this would be the fact that physical bullying receives a physical response, as to trolling, the bully cowardly hides behind a screen, laughing with no regards to the possible causes of what they've done.

Another thing I've learned is that the desire for superiority and attention stake high on social media. There is the typical post, “Hanging out with friends and after, Long Johns Silver” Now the one to post the status feels “cool” because 1) he/she has friends, 2) they meet up, and 3) go out to eat. After the post many friends start to comment, “Yeah, that was fun. We should do it again soon.” “Oh I love that place.” “Where’s my invite?” and soon many comments will rise and the person feels a bit of popularity.

There is something about the human need for attention, the want for popularity and wanting to be the core to the earth, all of this just to fill a cyber-world full of drama.

Drama is very interesting, creative and amusing, full of inspirational events, and of course, this could be true if I was talking about the theatrical drama. Social media drama isn't as joyful, but it is easy to begin.

Let’s say one example could be two good friends with many common friends in a social media page. Now the two good friends had an argument they fought and want their common friends to choose between the two. They are starting this war where they are looking for recruits to fight with them and they don’t stop arguing bringing other people involve that wasn't involved in the first place. Now the only thing that is left is the grudge after a blocking war between the people who took part on this social media drama.

Bringing problems to social media is a waste of time, it would all be easier for everyone if it the two friends meet up and talked about it, fixed it, and moved on.

Social media shouldn't make the users look like ignorant children, although even children have a bit more of common sense.

Of course, if the user is like the few that don’t involve personal life and problems to their social media page, then there is no reason for any of these occurrences to happen. Each person chooses their path they and nobody can walk their steps, all each person can do is try to be better every day.

Education

What is education?

Education is the foundation that allows you to discover and obtain new knowledge on multiple subjects, it is often linked with school.

Some definitions of education are: "the systematic development and cultivation of the natural powers by inculcation; instruction and training in an institution of learning; the knowledge and skills resulting from such instruction and training." Definition by Funk & Wagnalls Standard Dictionary of The English Language Volume 1 International Edition.

So are schools really offering knowledge and skills? Is it something worth paying for after graduating a high school?

Schools are taught by professors that studied for several years everything they try to teach their students. They try to also teach responsibility on getting work done in a neat professional way and turned in on time. They teach their students to commit to what they are to do as well as to be able to feel comfortable in large groups when needing to make a presentation.

These professors teach their students everything they know so that one day the facts and information being taught can be better explored by, and for, future generations. Now imagine that the professors at the school weren't fully educated on what they need to teach the students, all the wrong information they taught would be carried on. It is important to get the information from someone certified and knows about it.

Education is the greatest investment anyone can ever make. The higher of an education the larger employment opportunities a person can receive. Schools teach methods used in many types of careers, whether you are employed at a company or are actually starting your own business there is always room for improvement and one is never done learning.
